Hi! I'm new to Grand Prix 4, having played Grand Prix 3 years ago. I've got it working, seemingly smoothly, on Windows 10 and have been trying a couple of things.
I have some questions that I didn't immediately find an answer to (some of them I tried Googling a fair bit). That might mean there isn't an answer, but maybe somebody can help? Thank you!
1. I've been running the Talladega track, which runs absolutely fine, but for some reason the bottom of the car lights up under incredible strain when hitting faster speeds. This seems to happen to the human car a lot, but not the computer car so much, so it makes it impossible to be as fast as the CPU even in rookie mode. Is there any explanation for this, or perhaps something in a physics file I can change to allow me to run this track? I've not messed with any physics files and I know I used to install one in GP3. (I'm also having trouble getting another oval, Elimeno, to work, I've posted in its own thread)
2. Is there any way to set Qualifying to over 60 minutes long? I know GPxPatch can extend a race experimentally, but not sure if any tools can increase the qualifying timer. Or even stalling the timer somehow, so it won't count down. It'd be really good to be able to do this.
3. I'm using an Xbox 360 controller at the moment (no wheel right now), which I've got working in terms of acceleration/braking/steering. Is there any way to map specific keyboard commands to the buttons on the control, in GPxPatch or some other software?
4. Likewise, any reason the CPU can seemingly go so much faster even in rookie mode? I feel unable to catch a CPU car both on keyboard and a controller, even with all aids on. I'm wondering if I've configured something wrong? I feel like setting to the easiest mode should make some of the CPUs pretty easy to pass, but they're not on the default tracks.
I'm cars I've added, mostly based around the Toyota TF108, if it helps. (But I've not changed any physics or other game behaviour files, maybe that's my problem for 1 and 4, I don't know.)
Thank you for any help! :)
